Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood was the site of a frightening crime Monday evening.
On the 2500 block of South Pulaski Road, a motorist was carjacked, shot three times, and stuffed in a trunk before managing to escape and get to help.
At around 9:30 p.m., the unidentified 24-year-old victim was shot at least three times in the chest. Four men wearing ski masks then tried to steal the victim’s gray 2000 Nissan sedan.
The four men then put the victim in the truck and drove through various neighborhoods.
The victim was someone able to get the trunk open around Arlington Street and Pulaski Road and jump to safety, while the captors continued to drive. Police say they were likely unaware that the victim had escaped.
Police would later find the stolen car engulfed in flames at a garage on the 4100 block of West Harrison Street.
Wearing a Pepsi company uniform, the victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, and police are still looking for the kidnapping-carjackers.
