A small twin-engine airplane suspected of being used to smuggle cocaine was found burned in the Caribbean province of Colon, Honduran police said Monday.
Though first detected in the wee hours of Monday, the aircraft was in ashes by the time authorities on the ground tracked it to the village of Cusuna, inspector Osmin Bardales told reporters.
Police were unable to make out the plane’s registration number and have no information on its origin or flight plan, he said.
No one has been arrested in connection with the incident, but police are in investigating, Bardales said.
