Mesirow Financial is pleased to announce that Mayor Rahm Emanuel has appointed Olga Camargo, senior vice president, to the City of Chicago Plan Commission effective immediately through January 2014.
The goal of the commission is to promote economic development in Chicago and enhance the quality of life for all Chicagoans. Camargo is one of nine-member appointees who serve on the 22-member commission. The commission was established in 1909 and is responsible for the review of proposals that involve Planned Developments, the Lakefront Protection Ordinance, Planned Manufacturing Districts, Industrial Corridors and Tax Increment Financing Districts. It also reviews proposed sales and acquisitions of public land as well as certain long-range community plans.
With more than a decade of experience in the financial industry, Olga is co-head of The Avila Camargo Team. The team provides investment advisory and retirement plan advisory services for clients that include public and private corporations, public sector entities, high net worth individuals, business owners and not-for-profit entities and foundations. Olga also leads the firm’s Hispanic outreach initiatives and is involved in numerous civic organizations including Instituto Del Progreso Latino, Chicago United, the Chicago Council on Global Affairs’ President’s Circle, and is a member of the Economics Club of Chicago. Olga earned both her bachelor of science and master of arts degrees from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
