Homeland Security is reporting that under President Obama a record number of criminal immigrants have been deported. Most of the ‘criminal’ migrants were stopped for traffic violations and drunk driving.
In the fiscal year ending September 30th, 393,000 individuals were deported half of which carry the label criminal. And of those 21 percent or 40,663 were arrested for traffic violations that include drunk driving.
There has been a 78 percent increase in illegal immigrants being deported for traffic offenses, which has many immigrant advocates angry that the focus is not on the more dangerous criminal aliens.
Nonetheless drug related offenses remain the number one reason why an illegal alien is arrested and deported. Criminal felons charged with serious crimes such as murder or rape are rarely deported but are likely to serve their time in a U.S. prison before being deported.
