Eduardo Leme de Oliveira of Brazil has been convicted of killing a man in 2008 after being hired by lesbian lovers to kill one of their husbands.
Thursday, a Texas jury felt they had enough evidence to convict de Oliveira of being the shooter of Juan Antonio Morales, 42.
According to prosecutors, de Oliveira was hired by Julissa Gonzalez and Enedelia “Nelly” Canales, two co-workers and lovers.
Morales was the common-law husband of Gonzalez, 26, who along with Canales, 22, are serving 10 and 17 years in prison for arranging the murder, allegedly telling de Oliveira that Morales was abusive.
De Oliveira’s attorneys attempted to place the murder solely on Canales after she testified, saying de Oliveira has no reason to kill Morales.
“What motive did he have?” his attorney asked. “She didn’t give him (oral sex). She didn’t have sex with him. She didn’t give him anything in return.”
Canales and Gonzalez, who both plead guilty, worked together at Taqueria Don Felipe in Hidalgo County, and that’s also where they met de Oliveira.
