Though Scotland Yard detectives investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann are not revealing what led them to Spain, reports are that they arrived in Barcelona late last month for a fresh review of the case.
In 2007, Madeleine went missing from her family’s holiday home in Portugal at Praia da Luz in the Argave. At the time of her disappearance, the nearly-four-year-old’s parents were dining with friends nearby.
After Portuguese detectives, along with officers from Leicestershire Police, performed a tremendous investigation, her whereabouts remained unknown, and the case went cold and it was shelved in July 2008, and police no longer actively looked for her.
However, a re-examination of the search for the girl began this past May.
As to what was discussed in Spain, Scotland Yard had only this to say:
The review continues. There has been very good co-operation with Portuguese authorities and liaison will continue.
We are not prepared to discuss specific details of these visits nor speculate about any future deployments to Portugal or elsewhere.
