A Wednesday morning fire in Chicago’s Brighton Park neighborhood resulted in the death of a death and displacement of a number of people, officials said.
A spokesperson for the Chicago Fire Department said the fire began around 11 a.m. in the attic of a 2 1/2 story home on the 4500 block of South Carolina.
Though the fire was quickly put out, 19 people are left without a home, 11 are children, police stated.
The dog unfortunately lost its life, but there were no other injuries reported.
