U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents arrested 39 undocumented aliens from Cuba, Dominican Republic and Ecuador yesterday, found illegally in the United States territory of Puerto Rico in four separate events.

The total count of undocumented aliens arrested by Border Patrol are; 24 Cuban, 14 Dominican Republic and 1 Ecuadorian.  It is unknown if the illegal aliens arrived via boat which is a common practice.

The group of alleged 25 Cubans were transported by the US Coast Guard to the Mayaguez port of entry and transferred to the Border Patrol for immigration processing.  The wet foot, dry foot policy is the name given to a consequence of the 1995 revision of the Cuban Adjustment Act of 1966. Since then, in what has become known as the “wet foot, dry foot” policy, a Cuban caught on the waters between the two nations (i.e., with “wet feet”) would be sent to the place of embarkation. One who makes it to shore (“dry feet”) might remain in the United States.

Puerto Rico is NOT a territory of the United States. It is a Commonwealth, just as Canada is to the United Kingdom. I am surprised your reporters do not know this, given that you publish “hispanically speaking” news.

Puerto Rico is both.  It is a self-governing commonwealth and an ‘unincorporated’ territory of the US.  Commonwealths have their own constitutions like PR does. 

There are multiple sources that confirm Puerto Rico as both, most importantly the official government site of Puerto Rico speaks to this dual identification.  Incidentally the U.S. government in all its press circulars identifies PR as a territory as it did in providing details for the story we did.

The U.K. has begun a more aggressive stand against human trafficking/illegal immigrants. I would hope other nations including the US would follow in how the victims and illegals are handled once discovered. Deporting back to their country of origin may turn out to be a death sentence. if only we were more aggressive when our indigenous peoples seen a group of un natural beings mistaken as GODS. if only we knew who we were today, we wouldnt be so quik to associate “illegals” with HIS PANIC PEOPLES.
