Both a man and a woman are in serious condition after each was shot in the head in two separate shootings.

Police say the first victim, a 32-year-old man, was shot shortly after 2 a.m. Friday morning near the 3800 block of South Kedzie Ave. Preliminary reports say the man had parked his car, and was exiting his vehicle when a dark-colored vehicle pulled up and stopped. A passenger is said to have jumped out of the car, and fired several shots at the victim.

Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said the victim then got back into his car and chase the car carrying the person who shot at him. Upon spotting police on the 2500 block of South Kedzie Ave, he stopped an was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound to the head and said to be in serious condition.

Less than an hour later, a 21-year-old woman was under similar circumstances. Police say she was the passenger in Chevrolet Tahoe that was heading west on 37th Street.

When the driver of the Tahoe turned onto Washtenaw Avenue, a light-colored vehicle pulled over and fired at the vehicle. The SUV’s driver managed to drive away, but not before the woman was shot.

He drove her to Mount Sinai Hospital where she was admitted in guarded condition with a gunshot wound to the back of her head.

This shooting was only blocks from the initial one, and police say they have no evidence that they were related..
