Space flight company SpaceX is looking for a location for their new launch site being create to meet the increasing demand from their commercial customers.

With an active launch pad already located at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, and one developing at the Vanderberg Air Force Base in California, SpaceX is said to be considering an additional launch site in Puerto Rico, Texas, Hawaii, and Florida.

“Our growing launch manifest has led us to look for additional sites. We’re considering several states and territories,” said SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. “I envision this site functioning like a commercial Cape Canaveral.”

Musk told Space Flight Now that SpaceX is looking at U.S. territory locations due to trade restrictions that would likely be imposed under International Traffic in Arms Regulations. The regulations were put in place to inhibit the transfer of U.S. weapons technology to other countries.

To date, SpaceX has sold more than 40 missions on their Falcon 9 rocket, with more than half of those being for commercial customers.
