92 More Police on the Street, Focus on High Crime Districts

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and new Chicago police Superintendent Garry McCarthy have announced that 92 more police will be hitting the streets with a specil focus on high crime neighborhoods.  The additional police will be new police academy graduates and other will be removed from desks job to go on the street.

The additional 92 officers brings 750 new officers added to street detail in the last three months.  The Mayor has pledged a total of 1,00 officers when he was campaigning for mayor.  The Austin, Lawndale and Gresham neighborhoods will receive a number of additional officers.

The Police Commissioner welcomed the reassignments and recognized that changes this is not a quick fix for crime but a process.
