It has almost been one year when the San Jose mine in Chile collapsed on August 5t, 2010 trapping 33 miners 2,300 feet underground for 69 days.

Everyone assumed them dead until that now famous note that read “Estamos bien en el refugio, loss 33” (“We are well in the shelter, the 33” surfaced.  Since then some of the miners have found fame and fortune others have been to Disneyland, Graceland and have run the New York City marathon – but none have forgotten their ordeal and who they believe caused it.

31 of the 33 miners are now suing the government of Chile for the negligence they feel they showed in operating an unsafe mine.  A mine that is over 100 years old and was not properly inspected, they allege.
