DEA Commandos Entering the Drug War Against the Narcos

It appears U.S. officials have created a new team of commandos to infiltrate certain “drug countries” in the Western Hemisphere.

Countries known to be home to those running the drug trade that is currently fueling the battles for power happening all across the world, have been the site of fire fights with Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) commandos.

There are reportedly five military-trained groups of DEA agents whose goal was initially to fight the war on terror, but as the drug war continues throughout much of Central America, it appears the war on terror is merging with the war of drugs.

Though it wasn’t widely covered, In Honduras last March, a training mission with the D.E.A. squads and Honduran police was interrupted when reports came in that a plane leaving Venezuela carrying narcotics was heading for a landing strip not far from where the groups were training.

Upon contact with those aboard the plane, a firefight ensued, killing two drug traffickers and wounding one Honduran officer. During the 20 minute shootout, law enforcement were able to make their way to the plane and secure the cocaine that had been onboard.
