A New Mexico woman is in the hospital after part of her scalp was ripped from her head during a fight with another woman.
Police in Las Cruzes, NM say Gabriela Nunez, 19, and a former friend were at the same party when a fight broke out between them early Saturday morning.
What began as a verbal argument quickly escalated to physical violence and the two women began throwing punches and pulling hair. Police say that at one point, when the other girl attempted to leave, Nunez pulled her hair so hard it ripped part of the skin from her head. The woman was able to get away from Nunez and was able to get to a hospital.
Police say her injuries were non-life threatening.
Nunez was arrested Saturday evening and booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Center. She was charged with one count of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, and her bond was set at $10,000.
