A Honduran immigrant has been arrested and charged with the murder of a New York woman who was stabbed in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

Sunday night, 45-year-old Kathleen I. Byham was walking to her out to her car in the Wal-Mart near Albion, New York, when three men approached her around 7 p.m. One of the men stabbed her numerous times before all three ran off, sparking an all-time search by multiple police agencies.

The search for the stabber ended with the arrest of Luis A. Rodriguez-Flamenco, 24.

Byham’s car was parked very close to a light post which had two surveillance cameras pointed towards it.

Upon review of the surveillance footage, police were able to determine the two men with Rodriguez-Flamenco did not actively participate in the murder. The men were found at separate homes in a nearby village about 90 minutes after the attack. As of Monday, the two men had not been charged.

However, the men were discovered to be in the country illegally from Mexico and were handed over to the U.S. Border Patrol.

Byham was taken to Medina Memorial Hospital and was pronounced dead around 7:40 p.m. Sunday evening.

Police say there is no known motive for Rodriguez-Flamenco’s attack on Byham.
