Mary Jo Chavez has been arrested for seven DWIs, yet somehow she has managed to keep herself behind the wheel of a car.
The 48-year-old was arrested August 19th, and charged with her 6th DWI since 1998.
Then while awaiting her preliminary hearing for her 6th, Mary Jo added number seven to her record on Wednesday, October 19, just before 5 in the afternoon.
Police had been called to Mary Jo’s location after receiving a call regarding a minor traffic accident. An officer immediately realized Mary Jo was drunk, and she was given her 7th DWI and charged with driving with a revoked license, and driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle. Her car was then impounded.
In the last 12 years, Mary Jo Chavez has been arrested 20 times, and served a few years in jails and prisons for various crimes, yet when she was brought in front of Magistrate George Anaya Jr., who gave allowed her to be released on the $10,000 appearance bond he had set. In court documents, it was documented that Anaya knew of Mary Jo’s 6 prior DWIs.
Mary Jo is currently not in custody and the preliminary hearing for last week’s DWI charge is scheduled for Nov. 2.
Hopefully, she manages to stay out from behind the wheel and can keep it together long enough to at least get to the courthouse.
