This week, Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn will funnel $35 million to the United Neighborhood Organization (UNO) which runs a charter school program.
CEO of UNO Juan Rangel said, ‘It’s not just about money. We’re building a model for a broader system. We’re a large organization with a lot of families and issues that need to be addressed.’
This marks the second multi-million dollar state grant to UNO for new schools on Chicago’s West Side. Last year, UNO received $30 million to build theUNO Soccer Academy Elementary School, one of the organization’s 11 charter schools.
