Authorities of Isla Mujeres and the wider community are baffled by the double murder committed inside a hotel in the heart of the town. Analy Valente Bautista, a native of Acapulco, 23 years old and Iracema Castellanos Dominguez (Erika) of Tabasco, 26, were found murdered in a hotel room. The hotel St. George, located in downtown Isla Mujeres, on Avenida Juarez was where the bodies were discovered. Both bodies were gagged and bound hand and foot. The women had been slaughtered and had all the appearances of having been tortured.

After identification of the bodies, it has been revealed that the now deceased had some narcotic arrest histories.  One had been arrested for possession of 150 grams of cocaine on Friday October 14. She was released hours later after paying a fine of more than 100 thousand pesos.
