It appears someone in Florida is either a kleptomaniac with a penchant for iconic statues or someone looking to sell to one, as statues seem to be disappearing lately.
According to a Key West Police report, a BOLO alert (Be On the Look Out) was sent out for a missing 5-foot Captain Morgan statue that went missing from a Walgreen’s storefront Tuesday in Key West.
This marks the second statue disappearance from the area. Last month, a 70-pound, 6-foot rooster was stolen from El Pub in Little Havana. The rooster has since been returned, but only after receiving a new paint job.
The Captain, notable representative of the Puerto Rican rum, was last seen wearing a red cloak, tricorner hat, and posing on a barrel of rum. His kidnapper could be injured, as the swashbuckler is known to carry a gun and sword.
