The Network for the Rights of Children (Redim) is reporting that approximately 3.7 percent of all persons killed in Mexico’s war on drug cartels are children.

The report from Redim shows that 1,300 children and teens have been killed starting in 2006 when the country’s President Calderon declared war on the drug cartels operating in the country.  In addition, another 27,000 adolescents are believed to be victims of exploitation by the cartels and the very authorities working to take down the cartels – the Mexican military.
