Ronnie Ortiz-Magro has managed to avoid any jail time for the a 2009 brawl, which was captured by the camera’s of MTV’s hit show Jersey Shore of which he is a cast member.
In December, the half-Italian Half-Puerto Rican was indicted for one count of third degree assault for a 2009 fight outside a Seaside Heights nightclub, which had been caught on film while he and the cast were shooting the first season of the MTV series. Ortiz was facing up to five years in jail for the offense, but on Monday, a judge ruled that he would serve no time in jail, and instead sentenced him to community service. He also has to remain in a intervention program for first time offenders. By taking part in the program he is neither guilty nor innocent of the charge.
If the 25-year-old can stay out of trouble for 18 months, the charges will be dropped.
Stephen Izzo, the man Ortiz allegedly attacked still has a pending civil suit against both the Ortiz and MTV.
The cast is currently shooting the fifth season of Jersey Shore in Seaside Heights.
