Spaniard Jordi Constans has been named CEO of Louis Vuitton’s parent company LVMH (Moët Hennessy-Louis Vuitton), France’s upscale fashion brand.

The 47-year-old was managing director of the yogurt company Danone and he takes the place of former CEO Yves Carcelle, who is credited with making Louis Vuitton a house hold name over his 21-year tenure.

Carcelle will become President of the “Fondation Louis Vuitton”, which is currently under construction, and will house a new cultural foundation designed by architect Frank Gehry. It is expected to open at the beginning of 2013.

Bernard Arnault, Chairman and Chief Executive of LVMH, said, “I am delighted that Jordi Constans is joining the Group. Initially, he will have the privilege of working with Yves Carcelle, who has led Louis Vuitton with remarkable success since 1990. I wish him the very best for the future success of this iconic brand within the LVMH Group.”
