On Wednesday, Rev. Jose Landaverde of Our Lady of Guadalupe Anglican Catholic Church in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood announced plans to march on and fast at President Obama’s Kenwood home in protest of the detention and deportation of undocumented immigrants.
At a news conference, Rev. Landaverde said, “We want to demand from President Obama a moratorium on deportation. He should return the money that he’s been spending for years incarcerating people who are innocent to the community.”
The congregation will fast on Monday before moving to Obama’s home on Tuesday, where they will perform the Stations of the Cross.
On March 10, they will join a number of other congregations to march from Union Park in the West Loop to the Federal Plaza.
