Just days after the Venezuelan Vice President stated President Hugo Chavez was undergoing “very complex and tough” medical treatment in Cuba, photos of him reading the newspaper with his daughters were released by the government.
According to Communications Minister Ernesto Villegas, the photos were taken on Thursday, February 14. Chavez, 58, who came to power in 1999, has not been seen or heard from publicly since Dec. 10 when Venezuelan state-run television broadcast several images of him before he left Caracas to undergo surgery in Cuba.
Chavez, reelected for a third time last October for the 2013-2019 period, still has not been sworn-in for his next term as president due to his health issues.
