Last month we heard a rumor that Alec Baldwin and his Spanish wife were expecting a child, but the couple was staying mum.

This week, however, Baldwin and his Spanish-born wife, Hilaria Thomas, confirmed the rumors and officially announced they were expecting a baby.

Baldwin and Thomas were married in New York in June of 2012, and this will be the couple’s first child together, though this will be the second child for Baldwin, 55, as he has a nearly 18-year-old daughter, Ireland, with ex-wife Kim Basinger.

Thomas, 28, was born in Mallorca, Spain. As a child she studied ballet and flamenco dancing. When she was 13, she began international Latin ballroom dancing.

Both Thomas and Baldwin graduated from New York University. She is now the co-owner of and instructor at Yoga Viga studio in New York City.
