A New Jersey teacher is facing a number of charges for a sexual relationship she had with a student.
Jennalin Garcia-Calle, 28, was reportedly having sex with a 16-year-old student at Plainfield High School in Plainfield, NJ, where she was an algebra teacher.
The sexual encounters occurred at least three times and began in December 2012, only stopping when the boy began telling friends and family about it.
The alleged encounters not only happened at the high school, but also during school hours and in her classroom. They reportedly blocked the windows and locked the door.
After hearing the rumors about her at the school, Garcia-Calle fled to Florida, checked herself into a mental health facility, and told the student to get rid of all evidence of their relationship.
Police say the teen instead turned over all evidence of the relationship to authorities.
Though attempting to run from police, Garcia-Calle was arrested last week at the Recovery Institute of South Florida in Davie, FL.
She has been charged with performing indecent, immoral or unlawful acts in the presence of a child, sexual assault in the second degree, and child abuse.
The now former teacher is being held without bond after being booked into Broward County Jail. She had been teaching at Plainfield High School since 2008.
