The Florida Appeals Court has overturned two of the four convictions Casey Anthony faced for lying to detectives during the investigation of her then missing 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Anthony.  Caylee was later found dead with her body buried close of her family home.

After deliberating for no more than 10 hours the Casey Anthony jury found her not guilty of killing her daughter, 2-year old Caylee back in July, 2011.  She was found not guilty of aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter and the death penalty charge of first degree murder.

Anthony was convicted of four misdemeanor counts of lying to police and was sentenced to probation and time served.  Her attorney appealed those convictions.  The justices threw out the two convictions on the basis they ‘constituted double jeopardy’ – being convicted for the same crime twice. 

It was alleged Anthony lied when she told investigators she worked at Universal Studios, and that her daughter had been kidnapped by her non-existent Latina babysitter named Zenaida, that she did tell friends about Caylee’s disappearance and that she had talks to Caylee on the phone when in fact she was already dead.
