Mexican navy vessels are searching for a freighter that disappeared last Friday in the Pacific with six people aboard, the Navy Secretariat said.
The San Andres sailed from the western port of Mazatlan for the Islas Marias on Jan. 15 and was scheduled to return to Mazatlan on Jan. 17, the secretariat said in a statement.
The freighter provides logistical support to the prison camp on the islands.
A coastal patrol boat found two unidentified bodies early Tuesday near the islands, but it is not known if they are those of crewmen from the San Andres, the secretariat said.
Both maritime and air units are searching for the San Andres, the secretariat said.
