Minor Vidal believes he is alive today because of the Boy Scout training he received two decades ago.  Vidal was the lone survivor of an Aerocon flight between the Bolivian cities of Santa Cruz and Trinidad.

He was not rescued for nearly three days and survived by drinking his own urine, eating bugs and using his blood to paint an arrow so rescuers could locate him.  He was trapped in the plane for 15 hours before having the strength to get out and walk toward water.

He filtered his urine with water from a nearby lagoon and sifting it through his clothes.  The night crash occurred on Tuesday on approach to Trinidad and Vidal, the lone survivor, was found on Friday.

Early reports indicated all nine people on board were dead, an obituary for Vidal had already appeared in local Bolivian papers.
