The second of three planned Machete movies from Robert Rodriguez, Machete Kills, has now been given a release date – September 13, 2013.
Danny Trejo will once again star as Machete, this time being recruited by the U.S. government to take down an arms dealer attempting to launch a space weapon.
Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez will be returning to their roles as well. Other big names in the film include, Sofia Vergara, Alexa Vega, Amber Heard, Lady Gaga and Mel Gibson. Charlie Sheen is also rumored to appear in the guaranteed blood fest as the President of the United States. Riiight.
When the first Machete film was released in 2010, it grossed roughly $44 million. Rotten Tomatoes gave the film a 6.3/10, calling it “messy, violent, shallow, and tasteless – and that’s precisely the point of [this] cartoonishly enjoyable films.”
