After Alexis misfired on a chance in the first 60 seconds, Thiago opened the scoring with a goal in the 17th minute.

Villa struck twice within a five-minute period to bring the score to 3-0 less than a third of the way through regulation.

Alexis, meanwhile, went on to redeem his earlier mistake by knocking in two goals in the second half.

Atletico Madrid, riding on a 3-0 cushion after the first leg, settled for a scoreless tie with Getafe and will now gear up for a quarterfinal duel with Real Betis, who beat Las Palmas 1-0 to advance on an aggregate score of 2-1.

The other quarterfinal matchups are Zaragoza-Sevilla and Real Madrid-Valencia.
