Guards at a Brazilian prison recently nabbed a purring accomplice to what was likely an attempted prison escape.
On New Year’s Eve, guards at a medium-security prison in Arapiraca, which is near Sao Paolo, noticed a cat attempting to enter the facility.
When a guard managed to grab the cat, he found it had two drills, two saws, three batteries, a cell phones, headset, and phone charger tapped to it.
Now, because they have no idea who the cat was meant for, each of the roughly 250 prisoners are now suspects.
A spokesperson for the prison said it would be hard to figure out to whom the cat was going because “the cat does not talk.”
This particular cat was a regular site at the prison, and had become something of a “prison cat”. It was taken care of by families of inmates, but it would always return to the prison on its own.
The cat was taken to a nearby animal shelter to have the items and tape removed.
