New York’s Time Square was the site of an alleged groping of a woman who said the assailant was Super Mario, or more specifically, a man in a Super Mario costume.
At around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, a 58-year-old woman told security guards with Times Square Alliance that she was walking past the Conde Nast building on West 42nd St. when someone dressed as the videogame hero Mario inappropriately touched her by grabbing her thigh and slid his hand up further up her leg. Interestingly, the woman said she had had “similar encounters with the character,” and was “offended.”
After speaking with the woman, the security guards contacted police who arrived shortly thereafter.
