ABC may have passed on one of John Leguizamo’s comedy pilot, but they did grab another of his projects.
The half-hour project is loosely based on the comedian’s life as father feeling out of place in New York’s Upper West Side after coming from a less-than-spoiled life in the Bronx.
Leguizamo will take on a number of duties for the project including, playing the lead, co-writing, and co-producing.
The scraped project for ABC was to be a remake of the BBC comedy Only Fools and Horses. It was going to be called The Kings of Van Nuys.
Leguizamo will co-write the story for the untitled single-camera comedy with former Family Guy executive producer/co-showrunner Chris Sheridan.
