Choosing from 30 artists, Madonna has selected street artist Simone Sapienza to design the cover of her upcoming “Superstar” remix album.
The work of the 40-year-old Brazilian artist, who goes by the moniker Siss, was chosen as part of a Madonna competition, but was also part of a bigger marketing campaign for Johnnie Walker called “Keep Walking Brazil”.
The campaign was aimed at the ever-growing Brazilian middle class.
Siss’ design displayed Madonna as Wonder Woman, which paint cans in her hands and a lasso hanging at her waste.
The work of art will adorn 150,000 special edition albums and will be distributed for free.
From November 11th to December 16th the Museum of Image and Sound (MIS) will be honoring Madonna in an exhibition featuring all 30 artists’ submissions.
“My work is connected to the status of women,” Siss said. “I like strong women, who work hard for what they think is right.”
