Software guru John McAfee has been released by the Guatemalan government after they refused to grant him asylum. McAfee is said to be returning to the U.S.
The antivirus software creator that bears his name, came to international infamy after fleeing Belize, where he was living, and questioning his possible involvement in the murder of his neighbor, Gregory Faull, also an American.
McAfee, 67, is reportedly flying to Miami accompanied by his 20-year-old girlfriend, Sam Venegas. He continues to claim his innocence and denies any involvement in the death of Faull. The mogul, who has lived in Belize since 2008, said soldiers had been sent to harass him after he stopped making donations to Belizean politicians.
Authorities in Belize said that they only intend to question McAfee, to determine his possible involvement in the murder last month of his neighbor in the town of Ambergris Caye. Faull, 52, died from a gunshot to the head.
