The parents of students at the local high school in Van Horn, Texas are worried drug smugglers are using local school buses to transport illegal drugs after 500 pounds of pot was found recently.

The 500 pounds of pot in four duffel bags were discovered on the high school bus that was transporting junior varsity basketball players to an away game.  The boys and girls basketball teams were en route to the border city of Presidio, Texas that stands across the Rio Grande from Chihuahua, Mexico.

The school bus clearly marked with the ‘Van Horn Eagles’ log passed inspection at a highway checkpoint that is common in the area due to its proximity to the U.S.-Mexico border – nothing was discovered.  When the school bus driver stopped for snacks he discovered four unidentified black bags in the bus storage compartment.  Authorities were called immediately.

Many residents fear that narcos working on either side of the border were behind this extreme trafficking incident.  They also fear this will not be the last incident.
