A group of young people in the coastal province of Guayas in Ecuador recently attempted to register a donkey as a candidate for the Assembly.

The group, which calls itself “Outraged”, unhappy with the quality of candidates for the Assembly, arrived at the National Electoral Council (CNE) with the donkey as part of a protest.

The donkey even has its own Twitter account (@DonBurroReal) with the statement, “The citizenship proposal is destined to be a civic and democratic proposal for all of us.”

As the young people escorted the “candidate” police were called, the donkey was denied entry to CNE headquarters, and he was unable to register and an Assembly candidate.
