At an ambush in the mountains near Picachos Dam area, two officers of the State Police were killed and five others injured when attacked by gunfire in an ambush. The officers were conducting a tour of surveillance in that area.

The officers who died at the scene were identified as Ivan Contreras Valenzuela and Daniel Garcia Chavez, while the five that were injured did not have their identification released.
