Be on Look Out: Robbery/Chain Snatching Incidents

Chicago in the Chicago Lawn, 8th District, should be aware of reports of Robbery incidents occurring during the month of August.

1-3 Male Hispanic Offenders approach the victims and forcibly take gold chains. The offenders then flee in a burgundy/purple Jeep Cherokee 4 Dr. Carryall vehicle. These robberies are taking place during the early evening hours.

About The Offender(s):
• 1 to 3 Male White Hispanic Offenders • Height: 5’03 - 6’00 • Weight: 170 - 210 lbs. • Attire: dark clothing
• Vehicle Description: Burgundy/Purple Jeep Cherokee 4 Dr. Carryall

What You Can Do:
• Avoid secluded areas such as parks, alleys and vacant lots during late night, early morning hours
• Always be aware of your surroundings • Remain in well lit areas at all times
• Walk in groups, when at all possible
• Have keys readily available when entering premise or vehicle
• Don’t carry unnecessary items about your persons (excessive handbags, etc…)
• Report suspicious activity immediately
• If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm
•    Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc…)
• Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police
• If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information
• Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible
