This week, 19 contestants took part in the first ever Miss T Brazil pageant at the Teatro João Caetano in Rio de Janiero.
The Brazilian pageant is the first of its kind in Brazil because each contestant is a transsexual.
According to the head of the Association of Transsexuals and Transvestites in Rio, Barbara Aires, the association’s goal is to “gain visiablity, and to show that transsexual and transgender people should be able to choose their own profession independent of stereotypes or prejudices.”
The pageant was a 5-day event that included eveningwear and swimwear competitions. The contestants also attended lectures on human rights and sexual diversity .
In the end, only one could be crowned the first ever Miss T Brazil. The beautiful Ms. Marcela Ohio took home the crown.
