On Saturday, Bruno Mars pulled double duty as both host and musical performer on Saturday Night Live.

Having already showed us his comedy chops in Funny or Die’s hilarious “Whatta Man” parody, Mars really delivered on SNL. In fact, Mars helped the show pick up its highest ratings of the season.

Mars, born Peter Gene Hernandez, impersonated the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, to whom is often compared, as well as Katy Perry, and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler.

Interestingly, Mars had a little help (not that he needed it) from Tom Hanks, who made cameos throughout the night, even introducing Mars ahead of his first musical performance.

In between skits, Mars performed two songs off his upcoming album, Unorthodox Jukebox, “Locked Out of Heaven” and “Young Girls”.

Mars’ new album is scheduled for release on December 11.
