Thanks to Barcelona-based website *faircompanies (faircompanies.com) a number of people are gaining information on how to live in a socially responsible way in regards to the environment.
The website says it provides a “community and access to tools on sustainable culture.” The project is a result of Nicolás Boullosa, the creator and developer of Faircompanies Barcelona, SL, and Kirsten Dirksen, the co-founder of *faircompanies and director of its English version and multimedia content.
“You can improve your life, or your work, or even your wealth without endangering the planet, without making your carbon footprint bigger. You don’t want to be a carbon Big Foot,” Boullosa says.
A notable project shared at *faircompanies is from 16-year-old Austin Hay, of Sonoma County, California. Still in high school, Austin has begun building a house for himself.

Austin expects total construction costs will be around $12,000 due to buying a lot of his materials resale. When he’s done, he’ll be one of the latest members of the Small House Movement, and will own a home without ever having to pay a mortgage.
