A crash involving two buses and a pick-up truck injured 61 people Tuesday in the populous western section of Rio de Janeiro, Brazilian emergency services officials said.

The accident tied up traffic in the area, fire department spokesmen said.

Five ambulances were sent to the accident scene, but only one of the people injured in the crash is listed in serious condition.

The injured, the majority of them suffering from minor bruises, were taken to three nearby hospitals and released after being treated.

One of the bus drivers was seriously injured and had to be removed from the wreckage using special equipment.
