Florida’s Joseph Pineda has been charged with impersonating a police officer after he did so to try to get free food at a fast food restaurant.
On Friday, Pineda, 33, reportedly flashed a fake gun and badge at a McDonald’s drive-thru in St. Petersburg, Fla. claiming he was just coming from an undercover operation and didn’t have his wallet. However, when he claimed he deserved free food, workers called police.
As he waited in his vehicle for his order, Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies arrived and ordered him to show his hands. Though he initially failed to comply, Pineda was again ordered to show his hands, this time the deputies “challenged the subject at gunpoint, at which time he put his hands out of the window.”
Pineda was arrested and charged with impersonating an officer and improper exhibition of a firearm. In his vehicle, authorities found two badges and a fake gun.
As of Saturday, Pineda was still being held at Pinellas County Jail.
