The trailer for Parker, which opens January 25, 2013, has been released, and from the looks of it, Jennifer Lopez used her recent concert tour to stay in shape.
Parker (Jason Statham) is a professional thief who lives by a personal code of ethics: Don’t steal from people who can’t afford it and don’t hurt people who don’t deserve it. But on his latest heist, his crew double crosses him, steals his stash, and leaves him for dead. Determined to make sure they regret it, Parker tracks them to PalmBeach, playground of the rich and famous, where the crew is planning their biggest heist ever. Donning the disguise of a rich Texan, Parker takes on an unlikely partner, Leslie ( Lopez), a savvy insider, who’s short on cash, but big on looks, smarts and ambition. Together, they devise a plan to hijack the score, take everyone down and get away clean.
Michael Chiklis (“The Shield”, Fantastic 4) and Nick Nolte (Warrior, Beverly Hills Cop, “Rich Man, Poor Man”) also star in the film, which is based on the fictional character developed in author Donald E. Westlake’s book series he wrote under the pseudonym Richard Stark. Parker, whose first name is never mentioned in the books, was the protagonist in 24 of Westlake’s 28 novels. The first book in the series, The Hunter, was adapted to film twice, as 1999’s Payback, starring Mel Gibson, and Point Blank, starring Lee Marvin.
