An anonymous letter led Mexican authorities to a mass grave in the State of Mexico in the municipality of Zinacantepec near Mexico City. Thus far the police have recovered five bodies but they are expecting to find up to 23 or more. Most of the bodies were in advanced stages of decomposition.
The mass grave was located in the back yard of an abandoned house. It is believed that some of the victims are missing local federal police. This discovery comes on the heals of the 27th body being identified in the mass grave in San Fernando, Tamaulipas.
The Tamaulipas mass grave was made up of 43 burial sites with over 190 bodies found. The forensic work continues on the remaining bodies and 80 people have been arrested thus for involvement in the mass grave killings.
