Brazil’s Daniel Dias has now won four gold medals in the 2012 Paralympic games.

Dias, 24, was born in Campinas with malformed upper and lower limbs. However, at the age of 16, he decided to take up swimming to after he was inspired by Clodoaldo Silva at the 2004 Summer Paralympics.

In 2008, at the age of 20, Dias competed in his first Paralympic games in Beijing. At its close, Dias had won four gold medals – 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 50m backstroke, and 200m medley – four silver, and one bronze. Winning nine medals, he won more medals than any other athlete.

At this year’s Paralympic games, Dias has won four gold medals and all individual competitions he entered. He has also set three world records and one Paralympic record.
