Dominican Republic and Mexico Sign Wide Range Agreement to Combat Crime

The Attorney General of the Dominican Republic, Radhames Jimenez Pena, and Mexico, Marisela Morales Ibáñez, have signed an agreement establishing mutual legal assistance in criminal investigations, terrorism, and organized crime.

The agreement also involves the exchange of information and expertise in cases of corruption, human trafficking, narcotics and money laundering.

Mutual cooperation will extend also to investigations and legal proceedings for any offense under the laws of both nations, including violations related to taxes and other fiscal matters.

Morales Ibáñez said that to effectively combat transnational criminal groups is needed international cooperation

For his part, Attorney Peña Jimenez said the Dominican Republic and Mexico ties have strengthened over the years and this agreement is another sign the countries are getting closer.
