Here’s something hot to add to your summer must do list – the first ever Yo Solo Theater Festival of Latino Solo Shows, the latest collaboration between Teatro Vista, Chicago’s premier Equity Latino ensemble theater company, and Collaboraction, a Chicago-based arts organization of collaborative theater and experience makers.
Featuring six solo pieces by Latino writers from Chicago and around the U.S. Yo Solo is an event that will display the breadth of talent and the rich complexity of each individual performer as they bring their own personal experiences to the stage, collectively creating a beautiful collage about the Latino experience. In addition to six solo performance pieces, visual art installations and live music will add to Yo Solo’s festival vibe.
The YO SOLO Theater Festival was born out of the idea of giving individual Latino artists a voice and platform to create, explore, and express their personal experience in a format that empowers the artist to utilize different combinations of story telling: spoken word, dance, visual art, video and theater. Yo Solo implies “Me by myself.”
